Step 1
Compile a list of the clients you have worked with. Start your list with the most impressive clients you have worked with and work your way down. You do not have to include all of your clients, just the ones that will impress those who will be reading your resume. However, I recommend keeping a full list of your clients for your records.
-
Step 2
List your freelance writing services. What have you written for your clients in the past and what do you want to offer your potential clients? List each writing service you offer in a bulleted style. Make sure you add all of your writing services including editing, proofreading, transcription, rewriting or data entry.
-
Step 3
Write a summary of your writing experience. This should be about a paragraph long: 100 to 200 words. Write about how long you have been a freelance writer, what you specialize in, your expertises, and what your potential clients should expect from your freelance writing services. Write about what topics you specialize in writing about and what kind writing you do.
-
Step 4
Tell an interesting story about how you became a freelance writer. What made you choose a career in freelance writing? What are your best qualities? What skills, experience, knowledge, and talent will you bring to your client's work? What makes you better than the next freelance writer? This is where you need to sell yourself as a freelance writer.
-
Step 5
Add your contact information so your potential clients can contact you about your services.
