Choose a location. Your living room or den would be an ideal location. However, if you want to invite everyone you know, you might want to look into renting a space for the party. An outdoor location, such as a park, is also a good idea. If you have the party outside, be sure to have a backup plan. Mother Nature doesn't always cooperate. If you rent a location, be sure to have a contract. Ask lots of questions such as maximum capacity, limitations on decorations and the like.

Select a specific theme. "Cinderella," "The 101 Dalmatians" and "The Fox and the Hound" can be excellent choices. Think of the guest honor and choose his favorite Disney character or movie. Be sure to decorate using the theme you choose. Use miniature glass slippers to hold party favors if you go with the "Cinderella" theme. If you choose Tinkerbell as the theme, be sure to decorate with lots of pixie dust.

Make the guest list. Keep in mind the space that you have available for guests. If you are inviting a lot of children, be sure to have enough adults to help supervise them.

Decide if you want to send invitations. Not all parties require invitations. Word of mouth can be used to get the word out. If you decide to send invitations, they can easily be purchased at discount stores. You can even order from online companies based on the theme of your Disney party.

Create the menu. If this is a party where most of the guests will be children, serve foods and snacks that are easy to eat and tend to be less messy. Serving spaghetti is a great idea if you are having a "Lady and the Tramp" birthday party but can be difficult for 3-year-olds to eat. Your local bakery can bake and decorate a cake that follows your theme. Keep in mind if any of your guest have special dietary needs.

Plan the entertainment. Keep all games and other activities age-appropriate. Instead of the usual game of tag, turn into "Catch the Fox" if your theme is "The Fox and the Hound." Keeping in mind that everything can be a learning experience for children. If you chose "Cinderella" as the theme, seize the opportunity to expose the children to ballroom dancing.
