Helium.com has devised another way to reward their writers. Not only is there profit and ad revenue, contests and marketplace articles, now they are offering "upfront money" to their writers who excel. Helium members can now earn cash for the articles they write. Follow these guidelines and you will be earning upfront money from Helium.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Join Helium. Go to the website and click on "Join." Fill out the information and submit it. No resumes or writing samples are needed--just fill out the one form. Be sure to add your PayPal information so you can have access to all the money you'll earn.

  2. Step 2

Write quality articles, following the Helium writing standards. Check out the writing standards on the Helium website. When you write your articles and essays, be sure to follow those standards. This will help your articles to rate higher.

  3. Step 3

Earn at least one rating star. Part of being a Helium member is rating the work of the other members. Read the two articles and decide which one you think is best and rate them accordingly. Remember the Helium writing guidelines as you rate these articles.

  4. Step 4

Earn writing stars so you can get the upfront money. Once you have earned one rating star, you will earn fifty cents for each article you publish. One dollar will be added to your account for each article you publish when you have two writing stars. For three writing stars, you will get $1.50 for the articles you publish. With four writing stars, you will earn $2 per article that you have published, and with five stars, you will receive $2.50 for each published article.

  5. Step 5

Avoid writing for Helium channels that are excluded from this program. The "Creative Writing," "Religion and Spirituality," and "Entertainment Channels" are not included in the upfront money. "Politics, News and Issues," "Society and Lifestyles," "Other" and all debate titles are also excluded. Despite this, there are still several channels and hundreds of titles to choose from.

on 9/1/2009 This is very helpful. I hadn't figured out how the payments worked on Helium yet.
