Instructions

    • 1

Clear your garage floor of all debris. Sweep the floor to prepare it for your etching agent. Flooring must be etched prior to applying epoxy to ensure that the epoxy adheres.

    • 2

Etch your garage with an etching solution. Mix the solution as directed, usually one part water to one part etching solution. Pour the solution on a 10 by 10-foot section of your garage and work left to right and then up and down with your push broom. This will ensure every inch is covered. Allow the solution to set for five minutes then rinse off with a hose. Continue on to the next section.

    • 3

Sweep floor clean once it is dry. Coat the entire garage floor with a concrete primer to allow it to adhere to the concrete.

    • 4

Prepare your epoxy and base coat as directed. Pour epoxy on your prepped floor and spread it over a 10 by 10-foot section with a long roller. You have about 20 minutes to work with the epoxy so you will need to work fast. Once the section is complete cut in the edges with a paintbrush. Continue this process until your entire floor is coated with epoxy.

    • 5

Spread the vinyl chips over the epoxy coating. Do this by liberally tossing them onto the floor. You will want to use more chips than your floor actually needs. The excess will be cleaned up tomorrow.

    • 6

Sweep the floor to remove excess vinyl chips. Wait 24 hours before moving on to the next step.

    • 7

Apply a clear coat to the entire surface of your garage. Allow this clear coat to set for seven days before using your garage to park your car.

Tips & Warnings

  • It helps to have more then one person applying the epoxy. You can scarify your garage floor with a grinding machine instead of using an etching solution. Allow proper drying time.
