Things You'll Need:
- Digital camera
-
Step 1
Ready your car for the online sale. You need to completely detail your classic. It can make a big difference in the final selling price. The car must be presented at its best to get the top price. You should also take care of any minor repairs. Make sure it shines all over and looks great from every angle, both inside and out. You want it to stand out.
-
Step 2
Take digital pictures of your car. Find an area with a good background to take pictures. You don't want anything distracting the potential buyer away from your beauty. If there are any special or custom features on it, be sure to take several close-up pictures of it. Take at least two pictures from each angle of the car, to have a few to pick from. Don't forget the engine compartment, especially if you have something special under the hood. Download these to your computer.
-
Step 3
Make a detailed list about your classic. You will need to know the basic information and other factors about your car. Write down the year, make and model. Add any additional data about it. This could be any custom parts, adjustments, replaced parts, original parts and anything else you can think of. You want to show it off, so don't leave any of the minor or major details out. You can use this list in Step 4 and Step 5.
-
Step 4
Find the true value of your classic car. The value of a classic car can vary tremendously depending on the year, make, model and several other options. They really are worth what someone is willing to pay for them, but you need something to start with. There is a link in Resources that has a large selection of price guides (Kelly Blue Book and NADA) and links for appraisals. This is a good place to start. Don't just take the word of one source, check several to get a better overall idea.
-
Step 5
List your classic for sale online. There are several links in Resources that specialize in selling classic cars. You can list your car for sale at all of them or choose one or two. They differ slightly, however, the basic procedure is to create a classified listing of your car. Use the information from Step 3 to fill in the details. Upload as many pictures as you can or at least mention you have them in your ad. Make sure to include both a phone number and email address.

on 9/23/2009 I would also post it on www.oldcarpartz.com since they let you include a video of your car there as well.
