Instructions

    • 1

Connect the modem directly to your computer, leaving out the router for now.

    • 2

Log in to the modem to access its setup features. Open a browser and type in the following URL: "http://gateway.2wire.net/management." If this doesn't work, your model may still be accessed using one of these two IP addresses in the browser address bar: "http://192.168.0.1" or "http://192.168.0.2."

    • 3

Click on the "Broadband Link" menu and then the "Configuration" option.

    • 4

Disable the PVC search function. Also in the configuration menu, set the VPI value to 0 and the VCI to 35. These values can vary depending on your service provider, so note your original values before you change them.

    • 5

Change the connection type to Direct IP. Click on "submit" to save the changes.

    • 6

Click on the "Configure Services" menu. Disable the "Enable Routing" option. This will complete the task of reprogramming your 2-wire DSL modem by placing it in bridge mode. At this point you are ready to connect your router and set it up for direct access to your Internet service.
