Chemical facial peels, done in a doctor's office or medical spa, offer younger-looking, softer skin with immediate results. Although these peels are considered safe they contain chemicals that can be irritating to sensitive skin. Facial peels are also expensive. It is easy to make non-irritating, inexpensive facial peels at home with natural ingredients. You can also customize your facial peel to suit the changing needs of your skin.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Food Processor Fine Strainer or Food Mill Small Saucepan Small Glass or Ceramic Bowl 1 Peeled Cucumber 1 Pouch of Unflavored Gelatin 1 Ounce of Aloe Vera Gel 1 Green Tea Teabag 1 Chamomile Teabag 1 Washcloth
  1. Step 1

Steep your teas separately in half a cup of hot water for each. Squeeze the teabags and set aside about an ounce from each cup of tea.

  2. Step 2

Prepare the cucumber by blending it in the food processor until it is the consistency of a paste. Strain the mixture though a strainer and put the juice aside to use in the rest of the recipe.

  3. Step 3

Heat the tea in a small saucepan. Add the gelatin and stir until the gelatin dissolves.

  4. Step 4

Remove the mixture from the heat and pour it into the glass or ceramic bowl. Add the cucumber juice and aloe vera gel. Mix well.

  5. Step 5

Chill the bowl in the refrigerator until the mixture begins to thicken. This step will take about half an hour.

  6. Step 6

Apply the facial peel to your face and leave mask on for 15 minutes. Peel the mask off after it dries. Use warm water and a washcloth to remove the peel completely.

Tips & Warnings
  • To remove dead skin cells you can make this peel using just papaya juice, filtered water, and gelatin. Papaya has natural fruit enzymes that exfoliate and reduce impurities in the skin.
