How to Do a Simple Tap Time Step in Tap Dancing

The simple tap time step is a combination shuffle done to the count of "8 and," which means it is a slow shuffle (and becomes a treble once you step down on it) as opposed to a quick shuffle where the shuffle is done to the count of "and a."

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Tap shoes
  1. Step 1

    Shuffle on your right foot (do not lower your foot) followed by a hop on the left. Do this to the count of "8 and 1."

  2. Step 2

    Step down right and shuffle step left. This is done to the count of "and 2 and 3."

  3. Step 3

    Step down right and shuffle left ("and 4 and"). Hop on our right and step down on your left ("5 and").

  4. Step 4

    Shuffle right and step right, step left ("6 and 7 and").

  5. Step 5

    Combine the steps to the simple tap time step: shuffle hop step shuffle step step, shuffle hop step shuffle step step. Think about the count: "8 and 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 5 and 6 and 7 and."
