Things You'll Need:
- Notebook
- Pen
- Time
- Dedication
-
Step 1
To begin the journey of preparing your mind for a juice fast, you first need to find a quiet room and sit down with your notebook and pen. Pull your thoughts together for a minute. Enjoy the peace.
-
Step 2
Open your notebook and begin thinking about what your goals are. Do you have a health problem you'd like to improve? Are you looking to lose weight? Are you fighting an addiction to food you want to conquer? Write your reasons for wanting to juice fast down.
-
Step 3
Now read them. Have you left anything out? Be sure to add it if you did forget anything.
-
Step 4
Whatever your goal is, I want you to write it on a piece of paper and stick it on the fridge. Each time you'll be tempted to open the fridge door and get something to eat, you'll see the piece of paper with your goal on it and have to think about what you're about to do.
-
Step 5
Do you have any friends or family or online support groups you could contact when you're feeling weak? Call them out. Let them know what you're about to do. Ask them to not discourage you from juice fasting, but to help you succeed.
-
Step 6
Purchase some herbal tea and begin preparing a hot cup each morning (or afternoon). Sip it in a quiet place and meditate quietly. Think positive thoughts about your goals and what you'd like to accomplish. Tell yourself that you can do it!
-
Step 7
What's your favorite luxury? A hot bubble bath? Going to the theater? Ordering something frivolous online? Whatever it is (so long as it isn't food!), allow yourself that luxury during your weakest moment. Reward yourself for making steps to better health.
-
Step 8
Start a blog to document your juice fast, how you feel, what you're going through. By sharing this experience with the world, you will find there are others going through the same thing. A natural support system will form over time and who knows where that blog will take you! There are free blog platforms available at Blogger.com, WordPress.com and others.
-
Step 9
Stay positive, avoid negative people, write down your feelings, thoughts, goals. Think about the end result. Imagine how excited you'll be to have completed a juice fast - no matter how long or short!

on 11/29/2008 Thank you, Lindsey! I'm so touched to be able to have a small part in encouraging you to try juice fasting again! Let me know how it goes this time, ok? Just keep trying. You have to work at it and get your body used to it. If at first you don't succeed, try, try again! :-)
