Do you have your license but are afraid to drive? Do you not even have your license yet because you have that fear? Do you feel limited in life because you need to depend on someone to take you the places you need to go? Conquer your fear! Here is how.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Confidence
  • GPS system if you get lost easily
  • Patience
  1. Step 1

Figure out why you are scared to drive. Are you afraid to drive on the highway? Do you get lost easily? Are you afraid of being alone? Once you figure out what is stopping you from driving you can figure out ways to escape that fear and build your confidence.

  2. Step 2

Think of ways to over come your problem. If your problem is that you get lost easily, try to invest in a GPS system. You'll never have that problem again! If you are afraid to drive on the highway...don't! Look on map quest, google maps, yahoo maps or your GPS system and figure out ways to get to where you are going without getting on the highway. Taking the backroads may be longer but it's usually prettier, safer and you have to do what it takes to make you feel safe and comfortable until you are ready to get on the highway. If you are afraid to be out on your own, drive during the daytime, invest in a stun gun or mase or bring your favorite tunes to listen to. Consider taking defensive driving courses.

  3. Step 3

Don't rush it! Once you face your fear you will slowly begin to build confidence and you will then realize that you had nothing to be afraid of all that time. Believe in your self, always be alert and safe. You can do it! One step at a time. Don't rush your self. Good luck!

Tips & Warnings
  • If you have an overwhelming fear have someone drive with you until you feel safe enough to drive on your own.
  • Never drive under the influence of medication, alcohol or drugs.
  • If you do not have confidence do not turn on the radio, you need to focus all of your attention on driving.
  • Be Safe
