Baby's laundry needs different care than mom and dad's!

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

If the clothing has acquired stains, rinse away what you can and then treat the stain with safe or natural stain treatments such as club soda, baking soda and vinegar, Oxy Clean or laundry stain removers made especially for baby clothing (found in the laundry soap aisle).

  2. Step 2

Use special laundry soaps designated for baby clothing (with the regular laundry soaps). Also, use dye- and perfume-free fabric softeners. Soaps and fabric softeners designed for adult clothing can have harsh chemicals that can irritate baby's skin.

  3. Step 3

Dry the baby clothing on your dryer's lowest setting. The heat can shrink the baby's clothing, and if they do shrink most times your baby can no longer wear the clothing, and blankets that shrink typically lose their shape. Some items you might choose to dry hanging or flat to avoid them getting ruined in the laundry, such as things with strings or straps that can get caught or stuffed animals as the stuffing can bunch and lose shape.

Tips & Warnings
  • Treat stains as soon as you can to increase the potential that the stain will come out.
  • Cloth diapers require extra care. Wash them separately and be sure that all waste is eliminated before putting the diapers back on.
