Things You'll Need:
- 9 X 18 rectangle of fabric
- 3 1/2 X 4 rectangle of the same or coordinating fabric
- Thread to match the fabric
- Batting
- Sewing machine or needle
- Iron
-
Step 1
The smaller rectangle will become the pocket. Fold over about 1/2 inch on the sides and bottom. Iron the folds so that they stay in place.
-
Step 2
Fold over about 1/4 inch on the top of the pocket. Fold the top over 1/4 inch again, and stitch in place.
-
Step 3
Fold the larger rectangle in half with the right side of the fabric facing out. Position the pocket on the fabric where you want it. Remember that the pillow will 1/2 inch shorter on the top and sides because of the seam. Unfold the fabric and pin the pocket in place.
-
Step 4
Stitch around the sides and bottom of the pocket. Stitch over the top edge of the pocket a few times to strengthen it.
-
Step 5
Fold the larger rectangle in half so that the fabric is inside out and the pocket is on the inside. Sew along the sides and along the top about 1/2 inch from the edge of the fabric. Leave about 3 inches open on one end so that you can turn the fabric right side out.
-
Step 6
Turn the pillow inside out and iron the seams so that they lay flat. Use a pair of closed scissors or a pencil to push the corners out.
-
Step 7
Stuff batting into the pillow; be sure to push it into the corners. Add small amounts of batting at a time to avoid lumps.
-
Step 8
Fold the raw edges of fabric into the gap so that they are even with the sewn part. Stitch the gap closed very close to the edge.
-
Step 9
When your child looses their tooth, put the tooth in a bag and put the bag in the pocket. Have your child place the pillow on their bed that night for the Tooth Fairy!

on 11/16/2008 My sons each had a stuffed toy with a little pouch for holding the tooth. They are all adults now and expect to hand it down to their child someday!
