Things You'll Need:
- A computer
- An Internet Connection
- Basic Research Skills
- An up-to-date resume
-
Step 1
First thing you want to do before you start your search is to make sure you have an up-to date resume. Most companies that are legit want a resume. There are some companies out there that just require you to take their own online testing to see if your fit for the job. Re-check your resume, and make sure its in an easy spot to find so you can upload or e-mail it quickly if needed.
-
Step 2
Next, go to places that are search engines, that focus on real jobs, like Yahoo Hot Jobs, or Monster. I am going to use Hotjobs as a template for this article only, but please apply these steps to any job finding site. Go to www.Hotjobs.com then, on the top left under search- type the words "work at home" and leave the city and job category blank. Lists of companies will come up that you will have to sort through by your experience and interest. Once you find a company, click apply online, and always visit their website. Then go back to the main page again and type "work from home" and you will get some other results. Next, repeat the steps, click on a company of interest, and apply for a job using your resume. Keep repeating the process. Be leary. There are some scams on here too, but with a good eye, you should be able to steer away from them. Avoid companies that ask for fees or start up money to begin work. Avoid data entry positions that are not from a legitimate company. Make sure the companies help wanted ad doesn't look like a "to good too be true" job. They often use phrases like Make money from the comfort of your home!!!( and they overuse the quotations marks) Make sure to use different keywords in the search field. Some examples are, "work from home', "work at home", "telecommuting", "home office" ect. Most jobs have online applications to fill out, even if you send them a resume. Always use the same e-mail address when applying to jobs so you can keep track of who has responded back to you. *Tip-Make sure you create a hot-jobs account where other employers can view your resume.
-
Step 3
Be positive, the more jobs you apply for, the better the odds are of a company hiring you. Certain companies are always on the prowl for hire. You can take a test and try to be a ChaCha guide. For more info go to http://becomeaguide.chacha.com/ also try Sutherland Global Services. Remember to hit Monster, Hotjobs, Career builder.
