Why settle for canned cranberry sauce this holiday season when you can enjoy fresh, homemade cranberry sauce that will wow your guests? It's fairly simple to make and tastes so much better than that canned stuff!

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 4 cups fresh cranberries
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 orange peeled
  • 1 lemon peeled
  • 1/8 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp allspice
  1. Step 1

First, take your 4 cups of fresh cranberries and put them in a large pot. Cover them with water and boil over medium heat until berries are soft and the hulls have began to split. Remove them from heat and allow them to cool to room temperature. Drain well.

  2. Step 2

Take the peels from your orange and lemon, and grate them finely into zest. Add 1 teaspoon of each (orange and lemon peel)zest to the cooked cranberries. Microwave on high for 1 minute and 30 seconds. Allow to cool again to room temperature.

  3. Step 3

Add remaining ingredients and mix well, if mixture is too thick for your likeing you can add a small ammount of cranberry juice to make it moist. As you mix make sure you smoosh some of the berries so it creates a good paste like texture. Chill overnight covered with plastic wrap. Serve cold with dinner! Enjoy!
