Christmas is Coming - Are You Ready?

Believe it or not a little Christmas Spirit can go a long way in difficult times. Christmas Spirit is about how you feel about Christmas and the ability to find that Christmas feeling in little things and in little ways. But when times are difficult, it can be elusive, so how do you find your Christmas Spirit in difficult times?

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look at your memories from Christmas Past. One of the best places to go to light a spark to illuminate your Christmas Spirit is to look at pictures or videos from some of your favorite Christmases Past. Find your favorite holiday pictures and display them to inspire you to feel festive. You might be surprised how old memories can inspire you to make new memories.

  2. Step 2

Sing and play Christmas music in your home, in your car, while you exercise. Seasonal holiday music is one of the best ways to melt the walls you may be putting up to hold back your Christmas Spirit. When you sing those songs don't forget to include "We Need A Little Christmas Right This Very Minute..."

  3. Step 3

Decorate a little every day. Put up a Progressive Christmas Tree. Build your nativity scene with one figure each day. If these are not items you have try visiting a fleetique or a garage sale if it is possible and you might find them for a very small price. You can also make decorations quite inexpensively. If you have saved any favortite Christmas Cards from past years you can frame them in inexpensive dollar store frames and with a votive candle in front of each on a table or a mantle you have a simple yet festive display. There are endless inexpensive holiday decoration ideas online as well as at your local library.

  4. Step 4

Remember, the meaning of Christmas. The Grinch eventually realized that Christmas isn't about all the pantookas and wuzzles but about something much deeper. It's about a feeling. It's about kindness and concern. It's about digging down within yourself for some joy, for a smile to help someone else find a smile. Finding your Christmas Spirit in difficult times is more important than any other time. Christmas Spirit is about knowing that no matter how difficult things may be, Christmas with it's hopes and dreams for the present and future Christmases will come. Every December 25th no matter what - Christmas will arrive right on time! That knowledge will not put gifts under the tree but if you allow it to, it can reassure you that there are still some things that you can count on even in difficult times. Christmas will come, so you might as well find your Christmas Spirit and put it to good use!

on 12/17/2008 These are great tips for those of us who are laid off this Christmas. Actually, the lack of money this holiday has made me look closer into the true meaning of the holiday - and it's a beautiful thing.
