Example of a Hogtie

When your hands are tied (or cuffed) behind your back, then attached to your feet (which are also tied) you are HOGTIED. [See picture]

This article will explain in detail how to escape from a hogtie. The following escape requires moderate flexibility.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Moderate Flexibility
  1. Step 1

Your ultimate goal is to untie yourself. With your hands behind your back this is extremely hard. For this reason, you must get your hands in front of you.

Try to slip your tied hands over your hips, so your hands under your legs. Next, tuck your knees to your chest, and bring your tied hands over your feet. Now your hands should be in front of you.

  2. Step 2

With your hands in front of you; sit up and untie your feet if possible.

  3. Step 3

With your feet untied, you can now bring your hands up to your mouth. Untie your hands with your teeth.

Congratulations! You have escaped from a hog tie.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are unable to untie your feet do to your hands behind bound too tightly, bend over and untie your hands with your teeth, first.
  • The key to this escape is the ability to get your hands in front of you. Naturally, some people will be able to do this easier than others. Arm length, hip size, flexibility, and the length between your bound hands are all factors that may make or break you.
  • Practice getting your hands in front of you before you attempt the escape. Grab your wrist behind your back, and try to step through your arms to get your hands in front of you. Try this laying down, because in a hog tie you won't be able to to stand.
  • If you are unable to get your hands in front of you, gradually increase the gap between your hands. Naturally it is easier to "sit through" a four inch rope connecting your wrist together, than a single rope binding you palm-to-palm.
  • Always have a monitor present while practicing any escapes.
