A presidential inauguration is the formal swearing in of the president of the United States. The constitution requires that each president must make an oath prior to beginning a new presidential term. A presidential inauguration is held in Washington D.C. every 4 years.

Difficulty: Moderate

Things You'll Need:

  • A bit of luck
  1. Step 1

Tickets to the the presidential inauguration are distributed free through members of congress, however there is a limited number of tickets available.

  2. Step 2

To obtain tickets, phone or email your representative or senator (please see the links provided in the resource section below). Each member of congress is provided a certain number of tickets to distribute, so don't be surprised if you cannot obtain one.

  3. Step 3

Tickets will be available for in-person pick-up at Congressional offices a week prior to the inauguration.

  4. Step 4

The only way to obtain inauguration tickets is by following the steps outline above. Tickets are NOT for sale online or through ticket brokers. Please do not fall victim to a scam by purchasing these bogus tickets.

  5. Step 5

If you are not able to obtain tickets to the inauguration, many television and satellite channels broadcast the events live. Check your listings for more information.
