How to Talk to Your Child About Going to the Dentist

Talk to your child about going to the dentist is just as easy as talking to them about going rock collecting.

1. First, ask your child if he has a moment to spare, that you have something neat to talk to him about. Never start out scaring them.
   Your childs first visit will make a lasting impression.

2. Now, that you have his or her attention, ask them if they know what a dentist job is. If they tell you they are doctors and they don't want to go. Tell them to ask the dentist about any concerns that they have, and your sure they'll be able to easy any other fears.

3. They may need you to tell them, that going to the dentist is a like one big adventure. Kids like to do on adventures. Tell them if their real brave maybe you'll take them to their favorite place to eat. If your on a budget ,tell them maybe you'll rent a movie of their choice. If you can't do that either, tell them your very proud of them, and your going to bake their favorite cookies with them. Just let them know that even if they fussed a little, that you are proud of them.

Tips & Warnings

• Children want you to give them reasons to trust these strange looking doctors.
• Tell them that you enjoyed your first trip to the dentist and you looked forward to going back to learn more about how to keep your teeth strong.
• Never scare children.
