There is nothing better than homemade, the added touch makes everything taste better including spaghetti sauce. This is my own recipe and I'm sure you will enjoy it. Use this as a basis and add or leave out ingredients to create your own. Serve over hot pasta and enjoy. Get creative and add your own ingredients.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 2 32oz can of plump tomatos
  • 1 6oz can of tomato paste
  • 1 4oz can of tomato sauce
  • 3 carrots
  • 1 onion
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 4 to 5 garlic cloves
  • fresh basil leaves
  • sun dried tomatoes
  1. Step 1

Begin by placing olive oil in large heavy bottomed pot. Let oil heat and add garlic and onion, sauté until onion is clear. Remove garlic.

  2. Step 2

Reduce heat and add carrots and sun dried tomatoes. Cook for five minutes then add the plump tomatoes, paste and tomato sauce. Season to taste. Add sugar to control acidity.

  3. Step 3

Reduce heat to low and simmer for about two hours, allowing all the flavors to incorporate.

  4. Step 4

With the use of a hand blender, blend until tomatoes and other vegetables are pulverized and sauce thickens. Heat through and serve.

Tips & Warnings
  • Make lots and freeze
  • You can also add other spices, red pepper flakes

on 11/11/2008 I usually add a quarter tsp of baking soda to neutralize the acid. But I like your recipe. Thanks!
