Instructions

    • 1
      Scrap Metal

Assess your vehicle. Determine what parts of your car are still of value.

    • 2
      Remove Parts

Recruit volunteers, such as friends and family, to help you disassemble the car. It will make the process quicker and more enjoyable.

    • 3
      Salvage

Remove any useable parts and components. You will want to salvage as many useful parts of the car as you can. You can turn around and sell these on Ebay® or advertise in a local paper. There is a good chance that someone with the same make car is looking for a part that you have and would much rather pay you a discounted price compared to full price at an auto parts store.

    • 4
      Tires

Remove the tires. This is the biggest factor in lowering the scrap worth of your vehicle. Salvage yards have to pay to dispose of these, so that takes away from the price they will offer you.

    • 5
      Sell

Sell the tires if there are any thread left to them.

    • 6

Add as much scrap metal as possible to the car. Throw old cans, aluminum siding, iron, or any other old metal you can find. Do not put anything other than metal in the vehicle to weight it down. Since the vehicle will be condensed, all of the extra metal will add to the value of the scrap vehicle.

      Salvage Yard

Go through the yellow pages, or look online to find a salvage yard that will pay you to pick up your vehicle.
