Remember that old saying: If you want a true friend, you have to be one? Well, this is something we rarely think about. We remember that advice we received as youngsters in school, but gone are the days of following the Golden Rule - or so it seems...

Perhaps you've been searching high and low for that true friend. Or you already have a true friend, but you've been feeling like maybe they've been true but you haven't. You'll want to do whatever you can to hold the relationship together. A true friend is so hard to find. Don't let them go; you may never find another true friend! Here are a few things you can start doing to balance out the friendship and keep from losing them.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Patience
  • Love
  • Kindness
  • Generosity
  • Consideration
  • Time
  1. Step 1

Offer to pay for their dinner the next time you're out on the town.

  2. Step 2

Surprise them with homemade banana bread (or whatever their favorite baked good is).

  3. Step 3

    Can't bake? Buy them something.

  4. Step 4

    Walk their dog.

  5. Step 5

    Clean their apartment/house.

  6. Step 6

    Wash their car.

  7. Step 7

Buy them a sweet or funny card.

  8. Step 8

    Make them laugh.

  9. Step 9

The point is... show them you care, that you appreciate them and always will.

Tips & Warnings
  • Take a walk down memory lane and recall how you met. Now, do something special to either recreate that event or remind them of it in some way. Create a scrapbook, meet at the location you originally met... The sky's the limit; use your imagination!
  • I am not a therapist. Any advice given in this article is out of the goodness of my heart to help you be a better friend. Proceed with caution. Enter at your own risk. You might just find you're a true friend after all!
