Things You'll Need:
- Whole strawberries
- Chocolate
- Double boiler (or pot and metal bowl)
- Water
- Cookie sheet
- Wax paper
-
Step 1
Wash the strawberries and set them aside to dry.
-
Step 2
Boil water in the double boiler on the stovetop. If you do not have a double boiler, you can boil water in a regular pot and set a metal bowl in the top over the water.
-
Step 3
Break the chocolate into pieces and put it in the top of the double boiler (or in the metal bowl) to melt. You can use chocolate chips, or break up chocolate bars.
-
Step 4
Stir the chocolate constantly over the boiling water until it is melted. If the consistency seems too thick, add a dab of shortening.
-
Step 5
Hold each strawberry by the green top and dip into melted chocolate, turning the strawberry to thoroughly coat it.
-
Step 6
Place the coated strawberries on wax paper on a cookie sheet to cool.
-
Step 7
Place the cookie sheet of coated strawberries in the refrigerator to cool and harden the chocolate.

on 7/24/2009 Great advice! It's also a good idea to shake the strawberry slightly after you take it out of the melted chocolate to prevent any chocolate spills. 5*
