So, you've tried over-the-counter lice shampoos until you're blue in the face. You're thinking of shaving all that hair off just to finally be rid of the stress, but you'd much rather find a way to keep the hair, lose the lice, and be on your way to the other things in life that are beckoning to you. So, what do you do?

Don't fret. Here's an inexpensive, very simple (natural) remedy that will not only NOT rob you of too much of your hard-earned cash, it will help you be finished with nit combs and those nasty little bugs - for good!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 teaspoon Tea Tree Oil
  • 4 tablespoons of Olive oil (or Coconut oil)
  1. Step 1

Combine Tea Tree oil with olive oil (or coconut oil).

  2. Step 2

    Rub into scalp.

  3. Step 3

Leave on for 10-15 minutes. (Tea Tree Oil has a cooling effect, so you may experience a tingling sensation similar to menthol, but not nearly as intense..)

  4. Step 4

For best results, use nit comb once the 15 minutes is up (before washing hair).

  5. Step 5

Wash hair with your regular shampoo and rinse as usual.

  6. Step 6

Repeat these steps in 7 days (just to be on the safe side).

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also kill lice living in your clothes, sheets, and blankets by adding 12+ drops of Tea Tree Oil into the washer, along with your detergent.
  • Because of its constituents (referred to as terpenoids), Tea Tree Oil is both an antiseptic and has antifungal properties. It's an excellent remedy for bug bites, so your excess Tea Tree Oil won't be wasted!
  • I am not a medical professional. However, I've seen this remedy work. As always, make sure you aren't allergic to Tea Tree Essential Oil, Olive Oil, or Coconut Oil. Also, check with your health care professional before trying something new.
