How to Create a Vintage Theme for Christmas

Vintage Christmas decorations carry with them so much charm and memories. If you are considering decorating a room in your home in a vintage Christmas theme, the steps below should be of some help.

Instructions

1. Decide which room you want to decorate in a vintage theme. I personally chose my living room because it has a brick fireplace with a mantel that adds to the vintage charm.

2. Look through your Christmas decorations. You may already have some vintage ornaments that you kept from childhood or that were passed on to you from family members.

3. 
    

   Your next stop should be eBay. You can find tons of vintage Christmas decoration on that site, and usually for very good prices. I like to check this site throughout the years for items since people don't just list them at Christmastime.

4. Create some of your own vintage-style ornaments. There are a few ideas listed in the resource section below.

5. Don't overlook brand new vintage-style ornaments you might find on store shelves. Some of my personal favorite "vintage" decorations were actually purchased brand new throughout the past few years.

Tips & Warnings

• Did you have a favorite ornament as a child? Try to locate a "new" one on eBay!
• Use greenery that you can find in your back woods.
• Keep breakable decorations out of children's reach.
• I don't recommend purchasing vintage lights since they are a fire hazard. If you do, however, never leave them on unattended.
