Growing up I always looked forward to the Holidays and I still do. One of my favorite Holiday snacks that I had growing up was the Orange and Peppermint Stick my mom would give us...and I still eat them now that I am older during every Holiday season. They are delicious and the orange gives that vitamin C boost every kid (and adult) needs during the cold and flu season!

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • 1 Orange
  • A peppermint stick that has a hole in the top (looks like a candy cane but is thicker and doesn't have a curve)...try KingLeoCandy.com, I know they have them!

    Find a nice plump orange

  2. Step 2

Take a think knife and start a tiny hole on the orange, I usually go for the middle. Just a little hole will do fine, the peppermint stick is strong enough to do the rest of the work!

Slide your peppermint stick about 2-3 inches into the hole and you can start drinking peppermint orange juice! Just make sure not to get too excited with the candy and eat all of it before all your juice is gone :)

Tips & Warnings
  • If you like how it tastes, try eating an orange and drinking peppermint tea with it, its one of my favorite nighttime combinations!
  • Another great drink (for adults!) is taking orange liqueur and using the same method as above with the peppermint straw!
  • Be careful handling the knife and always have an adult do that step!
  • Use caution with young children as peppermint sticks are very hard in terms of candy

on 11/12/2008 Definitely go with the spray adhesive, I find the spray glitter often sticks together and the glittery ends up being too large of pieces...I like the fairy dust glitter that is much smaller and easy to sprinkle, plus the spray adhesive lets you have all the control over where you want to sprinkle the glitter. Good luck and thanks for the comment!
