Things You'll Need:
- Motivation
- Free time
-
Step 1
Visit family and friends for the holidays. It is wonderful enjoying the company of others which helps to continue to build a sense of comfort and closeness.
-
Step 2
Go on vacation. If you feel that you must celebrate it alone then go on vacation to a different location or go on a cruise which will allow you to meet other people and continue with socializing.
-
Step 3
Volunteer your time at a social services organization which will not only allow you to help others but help yourself feeling a sense of accomplishment. It always feels good to help others and offer lending hand to others who are less fortunate than you.
-
Step 4
Visit senior care and convalescent homes who at times do not have anyone that visit them regularly. A visit from you would help to lift their spirits more than you could ever imagine. This will help to keep your mind off of your loneliness while helping others.
-
Step 5
Read the Calendar or Entertainment section of the local newspaper to find functions and attractions to go to which will allow you to find fun things to attend and keep your mind off the lonely feelings.
-
Step 6
Develop a new hobby or find a current hobby that you enjoy doing and find others that enjoy doing the same thing as you do through the services of MeetUp or on Craigslist.
-
Step 7
Write a gratitude list of things and people that you are grateful for. This will help to keep your mind and in heart in perspective of all that you truly have in your life. This will allow you to see all that you have in your life and if there is something that you do not have then do know that you are able to change it.
