Advice on raising children to be responsible & successful.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

It would make life so much easier if Parents had a "Parenting Manual" to follow to help them raise their children. However, Parents are on their own when it comes to raising a child. More than likely, Parents raise their children much the same way that the Parents were raised. Weather a family is wealthy, middle class, or poor, it is critical that Parents instill certain Morals and Values in their children at a young age. Parents need to discipline a child from a young age. A child needs to be scolded, even punished when they do wrong. Make them understand that no matter what, they must respect their Parents at all times. We can't choose our Parents, so we must respect and love the ones that we were given.

  2. Step 2

Parents should be as actively involved with their children's lives as possible. Parents should attend PTA meetings, Sporting events etc. Active involvement in a child's life can make all the difference in the world. In addition, a parent must stress from the time the child is young, that Education is important. Parents must teach that school comes first. Children should be made to realize that a College Education is critical in order to have a stable and successful future. Explain that they will face challenges and they will have to make tough decisions throughout their lives. Always reinforce that you (the Parent), love them with all your Heart and Soul.

  3. Step 3

Make your Children do chores around the home. Cutting Grass, Washing Dishes, Sweeping the Floor are all little things that teach our young a sense of "Responsibility". Allowing your Children to do nothing around the home, gives them a sense that they are in control and this can lead to the child not respecting the parent the way they should. No one should have a "Free Ride", even at home, every one has to work and earn their keep. If a child is not taught these things when they are home, they will grow up without much structure or responsibility in their lives. Remember, you must instill in the child, the Parent is the Boss, not the Child. If they don't like your rules, than they can go elsewhere. 99.9% of the time the child will comply, they usually have no money to go elsewhere. parents need to Love their Children, but teach them that life is tough and they need to be on the ball and achieve their goals and ambitions. Encourage your children, be a positive driving force in their lives.
