Things You'll Need:
- Hydrogen Peroxide
- White Vinegar
- Carpet Shampooer
-
Step 1
In order to get those cat urine smells out of your carpet you need a bottle of hydrogen peroxide, a bottle of white vinegar and a carpet shampooer. It doesn't really matter what size unless you are doing a large area.
-
Step 2
Take the carpet shampooer and open the area that you would normally put the water and carpet detergent. Dump the bottle of white vinegar and the bottle of peroxide in the container. DO NOT ADD WATER.
-
Step 3
Put the container back in the shampooer. Then shampoo your carpets like you normally would, but only on the spot that smells, unless of course it is the whole room. Make sure to go over the area until the peroxide, white vinegar mixture is gone.
-
Step 4
Once you have gone through the solution, rinse out the water container. Fill the container with water and either a little bit of laundry detergent or dish soap (1/2 tsp. - 1 tsp.) Shake it up and re-shampoo over that are to get out the vinegar smell.
-
Step 5
When you are done going back over the area with the water and soap mixture. Rinse out the container once again and you are done, and shouldn't have that pet urine smell again.

on 6/29/2009 I have used a spray bottle with half peroxide and half white vinegar and scrubed the spot with a scrub brush. Then I take a wash cloth and pat it dry.

on 6/22/2009 How would you do this if you don't own a carpet cleaner?
