Clean Your Makeup Brushes

Cleaning your makeup brushes is very important and not enough people do it! Your makeup application is dependent on a good clean makeup brush. Your makeup will go on more smooth and even with a clean brush. When a makeup brush is dirty, you may experience an infection or breakout due to excess bacteria. You should deep clean your makeup brushes at least once a month when you use them personally and every use when you are using them on multiple people.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • MAC Brush Cleanser
  • Your makeup brushes
  • lukewarm water
  • plastic or glass bowl
  1. Step 1

Add lukewarm water to your bowl, just enough to drench the bristles of the makeup brushes when they are standing up in the bowl.

  2. Step 2

Squirt MAC brush cleanser in bowl, just one generous squirt will do:)

  3. Step 3

Swish dirty brushes around in the solution and massage out excess makeup in the bristles if need be. Make sure that the water does not exceed the metal part of the brush because this will allow water to get into the brush and break up the glue and you will lose bristles and need to prematurely replace your makeup brush.

  4. Step 4

Rinse the bristles of the makeup brushes in lukewarm water and squeeze out excess water and lay flat to dry on a towel. They will dry over night. It is very important to lay the brushes flat on the towel versus standing up in a container because again the water get into the brush and break up the glue that holds the bristles together.

Tips & Warnings
  • Be gentle to your makeup brushes and of they are of good quality, they can last for years to come! Never soak your makeup brushes or submerse in water because this will damage the brush and the glue that is holding all of the bristles together.
