Now that you have caught your sage grouse, you will need to clean it before preparing your dinner. Cleaning a grouse is a simple process that only takes a minute once you get a hang of it.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

REMOVE WINGS -- Grab the wing near the base where it attaches to the body. With other hand, twist and pull the wing from the body. There will be some cracking sounds as the wings separate from the body. Repeat with other wing.

  2. Step 2

OPEN CHEST -- Lay bird on it's back. Push air sack aside, exposing the body. Grab the bird's skin at the chest and rip or cut open to expose the grouse's meat.

  3. Step 3

SEPARATE SKIN -- Work skin away from breast all the way down the sides, making the whole breast visible.

  4. Step 4

SEPARATE BREAST -- Place finger in center of grouse's breast at the edge closest to the feet. Pull breast, separating it from the bones.

  5. Step 5

CLEAN -- Once your grouse's breast is out of the body, clean it in cold clean water. Dispose of the rest of the body.
