Comcast has recently updated their DVR options. It’s much more user-friendly.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Comcast's DVR
  1. Step 1

    Press the “My DVR” button

  2. Step 2

Press the down arrow so “Set a Recording” is highlighted.

  3. Step 3

If you know what channel and what time your show is on, choose “Record from TV listing.” Then use the remote’s up or down arrows, or page up and page down arrows to locate the time and channel the listing is on.

If you know the title of the tv show or movie you want to record, choose “Find Shows to Record.” Use the alphabetized square to spell out the name of the show you want to record. You should only need the first few letters. Results will display in the chart to the right. Use the right arrow to reach this results chart and scroll through to find your listing.

  4. Step 4

Press “OK” in the center of the arrows when you locate your listing. Choose the red “Record” button on your remote, or on the screen to set your recording.

  5. Step 5

To watch a recording, press "My DVR" button, and then "My Recordings." Locate the recording you want to watch using the up and down arrows on your remote. Press OK, and you will be taken to the details screen, which will display the show's description. Choose the "Play" button, "Restart from the Beginning" button, the "Modify the save setting" button, the "Delete this Program" button, or the "Set or Remove a Lock" button. Each button displays a description conveniently beneath it.

  6. Step 6

While viewing a recorded program, use rewind, fast forward and pause to control the program.

Tips & Warnings
  • Note: If one show overlaps a few minutes into another (example Lipstick Jungle runs from 9 until 10:02, and I have two other shows taping at 10:00), the DVR will still tape my two 10:00 shows, and note that a few minutes were not recorded due to a previously set recording. Love this new feature. Previously, it wouldn’t tape either 10:00 recording.
