Things You'll Need:
- air pump
- bike
- tire tube
- (2)flat head screw-drivers
- tire
- two people for the tire mount
- dish soap/water bucket w water
-
Step 1
first get the bike ready.Turn it upside down.Preferable on a drive way, if any parts fall you can find them.
-
Step 2
loosen and remove the nuts holding the tire on.If you have a tire you would like to just replace and the tube is still good.Let the air out of the tire. You can use a pebble or a special tool for this. This will allow you to get the tire out without the brakes stopping you.If this is a bike with more than one speed, you will need to take the chain off the gear.Remember which gear it was on!Count them!
-
Step 3
Now you have the tire off.Put dish soap in the bucket.Apply the soapy water to the entire tire surface. Now pry the tire loose from the wheel with the flathead screwdrivers.Along the edge only, don't puncture the tire or tube!Keep moving around the wheel till it is all the way off.
-
Step 4
Once it is off put the new or good tube inside the tire. Now mount the tire on the wheel. If it is a new tire you will need your helper to hold it while you put inside the wheel edges.Once again moving all around the wheel till the tire completely set in.Then make sure you put the tire back on as it came off.Don't air it up until everything is back together. Or you will have to re-adjust the brakes. Take your time and good luck!
