First, you should learn your job and learn it well. Knowledge will get you far. Performance is one of the most important factors of being a good nail technician. If you take the time to learn new things, your clients may respect you more and may even be willing to pay you more for your services.

2
Always do your job right and watch for things that could go wrong with your clients nails. If you are applying false nails, letting your client know about nail fungus and what they can expect after you have applied their false nails is important. For example, let them know about their fills on their nails, and how important it is to keep their nails clean while wearing false nails.

Always try to be on time to work and stay caught up during the day. If you are always running behind, adjust your schedule. You may lose clients if they get tired of waiting on you when you are running behind. You may leave a gap in your schedule so that you can catch up if need be. Be polite and do not curse or say negative things about other people or nail technicians.

Giving your clients a chance to talk may help them feel more comfortable. It is their time to relax and have special treatment. Be considerate of their feelings when it comes to telling them your problems. Always put yourself in their place and decide how you would want to be treated if you were getting your nails done, then go from there.

Give your clients good service. If your client is late, let them know if you are not able to get their nails done in the amount of time that you have. Let them know that you really wish to give them great service and that if you do their nails in such a short amount of time, that the service may not be as good as you wished. If you have to turn a client away because they were late, you may look at their nails and see if they need a polish change and give them one with the time you have left at no charge if they will reschedule their appointment for a later date. If it is a new client, you may still offer them a free polish change at a later date if they reschedule. Even offering them a discount is a good idea in order to encourage them not to go somewhere else to get their nails done.

Last but not least, use good products. Using good products always seems to pay for itself in the long run. Using good quality products saved me tons of time on nail repairs. There really is a difference. If you are having problems with acrylic nails breaking and you think that it may be your fault, think again. It could very well be the product you are using. Read in the TIPS section of this article and I will tell you the brand of acrylic that I used for many years.

Tips & Warnings
I used Amoresse acrylic and when used right, it works great. It sets a little fast, but you will get used to it. I used Bondex primer with it also. You have to make sure that you are using the product right and that you are not using it too watery. If it is too watery, it will be rubbery. If it is too dry, it will be brittle.
Make sure when you are applying acrylic to the nails that you always have at least 1/16th inch of acrlyic on all parts of the nail. If it is thinner than that, chances are it will crack.
Do not file all the acrylic back off the nail after you have applied it. The tips and sides of the nails should stay at least 1/16th inch thick.
