Things You'll Need:
- a smile and a positive attitude!
-
Step 1
When trying to make a good impression on someone you will be meeting for the first time, it is very important to approach the person with a warm smile that makes you seem approachable. A good, positive attitiude and self-confidence shows!
-
Step 2
After offering a warm smile, introduce yourself and offer a warm but firm handshake. Be sure to make eye contact.
-
Step 3
Sometimes it's nice to make a small compliment. A good example would be: "Hi! My name's Danielle, I'm so glad to finally get to meet you! By the way, I love that shade of blue- it really brings out the color of your eyes!"
From there, let your body language and mannerisms show that you are open and welcoming contact with the other person. Be ready to listen and pay attention to what the other person says. Dont ask questions that can easily be answered with a simple no/ yes response. Show a real interest by repeating some important things the other person has said.
Reading the other person's body langueage is very helpful as well. It is very easy to tell if someone opens up to others easily or has a hard time communicating.
Most importantly, always be yourself. Making a good impression will be worth nothing in the end if you try to be someone or something you are not, because eventually the true you will show. It's always in your very best interest to be sincere and genuineright from the start.
Last of all, be sure to keep in contact. Remember the names and specific details of the individuals that you meet. Make time for communicating with them! Pretty soon, you'll be one of those people that everyone remembers in a good light, and you'll have more friends than you could ever imagine-each and every one of them quality and valuable because you took the effort to make it that way!
