Instructions

    • 1

First you can buy or sometimes find a Barbie sewing patterns template for making your handmade Barbie clothes.

    • 2

Cut out a 1 dimensional Barbie clothes pattern, front and back, 1/8 inch larger than the width of the dolls shoulders.

    • 3

Next cut out neck in a circle, v-neck, or turtle neck shape. Then cut a slit or open v in the material about 1/4 or more inches for the dolls back.

    • 4

Now sew the two handmade front and back pieces together using a matching or complimentary thread color.

    • 5

Now attach your beaded lace, lace collar, buttons or bows, and any lace around cuffs of your Barbie clothes with fabric adhesive. These vintage clothes materials can be handmade or purchased already sewn.

    • 6

Lastly attach your Velcro strips or dots to one side of your slit or v back with fabric adhesive or hot glue. Let outfits dry and accessorize your handmade Barbie clothes with vintage shoes gloves, handbag, belts, etc.

Tips & Warnings

  • Velcro dots tend to hold better and are more versatile for different open slit backs but strips work fine for fully closed Barbie backs.

  • Use a slightly darker color thread for sewing your handmade clothes pieces together if an exact match cant be found.
