With the invention of the internet has come the opportunity for companies to begin hiring at home workers. Many companies are now hiring people to work from home performing customer service, locating sales leads, and other positions that require a person to converse over the phone. However, phone work is not for everybody. It takes a bit of digging to locate non-phone jobs, but they are out there. The following tips will help you locate these jobs.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A computer
  • The desire to work at home
  1. Step 1

Sign up for work at home sites and forums such as WAHM, Work Place Like Home, and Rat Race Rebellion (see links in the resources category below). These sites list various job types. WAHM's message boards lists many business opportunities as well as jobs. You want to be looking for the forum entitled "Telecommuting Moms".

  2. Step 2

As you check out these sites, be thinking about the type of job you would like and are capable of doing. Work at home jobs are available for freelance writers, virtual assistants, bingo chat moderators, data entry, medical transcription, internet research, and more.

  3. Step 3

Check out some of the more widley talked about jobs such as ChaCha.com, Mahalo.com, eHow.com, KeyForCash.com, and KgbKgb.com. These are only a very small sample of what's available.

  4. Step 4

Keep your eyes open to possible scams. General rules of thumb are never pay for a job, and if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. If you are questioning a job's creditability, perform a search for the company in Google, check out any conversations about it on the message boards, or begin your own thread and ask.

  5. Step 5

Apply to as many jobs that are of interest to you and don't get discouraged if your application is declined. Companies get many applications from people just like you on a daily basis, and they can only accept a certain amount. Keep persevering and hopefully you will find a non-phone work at home job soon!

Tips & Warnings
  • Check out the listings on CraigsList.com.
  • Try to locate more than 1 job to have at a time. Back-ups are always good when dealing with internet-based jobs!
  • Beware of scams!
