Step 1
Make sure your dog is up to date on his shots. Unsure of what shots are required ?.... ask your landlord.
-
Step 2
Your dog should be licensed also. Tags from the vet and the license should be worn on your dogs' collar.
-
Step 3
Always take your dog out on a leash. This will keep him from bothering other tenants and their dogs. It will also prevent your pet from getting hit by a vehicle in your parking lot, or from running away.
-
Step 4
Keep your pets' nails trimmed. That way, the carpeting and wood in your apartment won't get scratched or snagged.
-
Step 5
Find out where the designated area for bath rooming your pet is, and use only that spot. Stepping in a mess is a sure way to anger neighbors, and the waste can also turn grass, shrubs, etc. brown or kill them.
-
Step 6
Do not let pets run around free in your apartment when you are gone. They may do damage to the apartment without your supervision. A good suggestion is to get a size appropriate indoor kennel with food and water dishes. With a little training, your pet will know that it is time to go to "his house". However, do not leave your pet in the kennel alone if you have to be gone overnight. Ask your vet about a responsible kenneling service. Many vets board pets at their place of business also.
