Today so many people turn to medicine to help heal their depression, but there are other alternatives that may prevent medicine from being a necessity.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • A willingness to try
  • An open mind
  • A desire to get better
  1. Step 1
    Drink Plenty of Water

    Watch your diet.

Drink plenty of water, as often the symptoms of depression can be mimicked or enhanced by dehydration.

Regulate your refined sugar intake. Sugar is a known depressant. While it gives you a momentary high, it also soon brings you down.

  2. Step 2
    Sunlight

    Change your environment.

Open your blinds and curtains and let the sunlight in and, if possible, walk outside into the sunlight for a few minutes.

The sun's rays actually activate Vitamin D in your body, which is good for you, and studies show that exercise gives you endorphins which help lift your mood.

  3. Step 3
    Let it go.

    Let it go.

    Let go.

If there was an event that brought the depression on, dwelling on that event will only hold you in the prison of depression.

Let it go, CHOOSE to forgive, and refuse to speak or think negatively.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you really want to be free from depression, tell Jesus about your pain and ask Him to set you free from it. Give Him your life.
  • Try reading the Psalms from the Bible. Many of them are hugely comforting. The book of John is good as well.
  • Always consult your doctor before making radical changes in your diet.
  • If you are contemplating suicide, please speak to a professional. No matter how you feel or what anyone else says, your life is VERY valuable. You are very important.
