Looking for something to do with the kids?
A Nature Walk can take care of several things at once. Teach, exercise, healthy
and creative.
I'm going to tell how to make a Nature Walk Collage.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

OK..Give each child a basket. They can use this to put things in that are interesting to them.
You can talk about each item on the nature walk, as they put them in the basket.
Why do they like it? How does it feel to them? What does it do? What color is it? So on and so on.

  2. Step 2

Clean up the table. Spread newspaper out over the table.

Have each child glue their nature walk finds on the construction paper.
Show them that they can overlay the pieces.
Encourage them to cut other pieces of different color paper onto the first sheet of paper.
They can even use pictures from magazines, that they associate with their finds.
They can glue leaves, twigs, weeds, snake skins, feathers and even small pebbles onto the paper.

  4. Step 4
    toad in child's hands

When they are done you can talk about their experiences on the nature walk.
    Ask them what they learned.
Hang their collages on the refrigerators or wherever.

Tips & Warnings
  • Nature Walks are a good time to bond with your kids.
  • Encourage them to talk about all kinds of things.

on 6/12/2009 This is a great idea! Children love to get into God's creation around them. Photos of the children on the walk might be nice within the collage too. :)
