Arrange Flowers By Vase
Arrange Flowers By Vase

Vases can add a special look to a room. Add some fresh cut flowers and you can have a show stopping centerpiece. Learn how to arrange flowers according to vase.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Roses, carnations, anemones, and ranunculus are just a few flowers that look great in flower arrangements with a round vase. My favorite is a rose. When round vase is full flowers should give a rounded top effect.

  2. Step 2

The straight sides of a julep cup provide a study anchor for spindly stems. Flowers should be cut at least one and a halt to two times the height of the vase. My favorite flowers for the julep cup is the grape hyacinths and lilies.

  3. Step 3

A bowl vase can give a beautiful setting in a bathroom or a side table. Flowers that have a open bloom such as a peony or gardenias are great options for the bowl vase. To keep water clear ad a teaspoon of bleach to the water.

  4. Step 4

Large bud vase or a group of small vases arrangements look great as table center pieces. Small bud vases can ad appeal to a side table. Flowers such as freesia, sweet peas and poppies work great in bud vases.

  5. Step 5

Tall Cylinder floor vases work well with flowering branches such as cherry, apple, and quince. Heavy branches should only be used with narrow vases. Cut the bottom of the branches to assure the branches can easily retrieve water to elongate their life.

  6. Step 6

Flowers such as tulips and hyacinths with large blossoms and long stems work well with a urn's vintage style and sturdy appearance. Flowers with flexible stems will stretch outside of the urn and spread out beautifully.

Tips & Warnings
  • Clean vase before use.
  • To keep flowers looking fresh cut 1" from the bottom of each stem and remove leaves that are below the water line.
  • Fill vase with room temperature water and plant food before inserting flowers.
  • To open up flowers make water slightly warm.
  • Start adding the larger flowers to the vase first then place the smaller flowers around them. If desired, add foliage to please the eye as the last step.
  • Fresh cut flowers should be kept out of direct sunlight.
