Things You'll Need:
- Boric Acid
-
Step 1
It seems that every apartment I ever lived in had cockroaches. OK, I'm not a neat freak, but I'm not horrible either. I don't leave food out or dirty dishes in the sink, but still, there they would be at 2AM scurrying about. The landlord had an exterminator come monthly and spray the place with horrible smelling stuff, but it did absolutely nothing.

Step 2
I finally found the cure. It takes a couple of weeks and costs almost nothing, but when done, your place is roach free!
-
Step 3
Boric AcidGo to a hardware store or pharmacy and buy a bottle of powered Boric Acid. Boric Acid is a very weak acid that has many uses. It is safe and often used as an antiseptic or as an eyewash or anti fungal. But it is also an incredible insecticide. Sprinkle the powder in corners where you have seen roaches (for instance, under the fridge, behind the sink, around the stove, at the rear of your countertops, etc). It won't kill the roaches right away, but this is good. They'll walk through it and carry it back to their nests where it will kill their eggs. You'll be amazed, after 2-3 weeks your apartment is roach free.

on 11/9/2008 One more reason to use re-usable grocery bags. I don't have roaches in my home in the 'burbs' but a couple of times I inadvertently brought them home in paper shopping bags.
