Things You'll Need:
- 3/4 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/4 cup of apple juice or water
- 3 tablespoons of butter
- 2 tablespoons of light corn syrup
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 9-10 cups of popped popcorn, no kernels
- 2 cups of raisins, or dried apricots, dices
-
Step 1
Combine brown sugar, apple juice, butter, corn syrup, and salt in a 2-3 quart saucepan.
Boil over medium heat for 5 to 6 minutes, or until thickened. -
Step 2
Buttered a large bowl, place popcorn, diced apricot pieces or raisins in it. I used both raisin and apricot!
Slowly drizzle the hot sugar mixture over them, and quickly stir with a spatula. -
Step 3
Have your child butter their hands, and allow them to shape the popcorn into balls.
Wrap the popcorn balls in cellophane, and make it a great treat to pass out at parties. -
Step 4
The above recipe will make 12 popcorn balls. You will have to double or triple the ingredients to make enough for a class room full of children!
After wrapping the popcorn balls in cellophane, add a little ribbon to make it look pretty!
