Pimples are no fun, and they're especially awful when they hurt and won't come to a head. Fortunately, there are some things you can do to draw the puss out of your pimple so you can find some relief.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Grab a clean washcloth and run it under the hottest water your sink will produce. Immediately hold the dampened cloth to your pimple until the cloth goes cool. Repeat as many times as necessary to draw out the puss.

  2. Step 2

If you can't get your water hot enough, wet a washcloth and place it on a plate in your microwave for about 45 seconds or so. Remove it, place it in a plastic baggie, cover with a paper towel, and place over pimple. Again, repeat as many times as necessary to draw out puss.

  3. Step 3

Dab toothpaste on your pimple and allow it to dry. (Be sure that you are using paste, not gel.) This will dry up the pimple and bring it to a head.

  4. Step 4

If none of the previous attempts work, try dabbing Preparation H on the spot. Let it sit overnight and by morning, you should see a whitehead.

  5. Step 5

Another way to draw out puss from a pimple is to dab witch hazel on it. Witch hazel is found at any drugstore and is the main ingredient in Preparation H and many other hemorrhoid medications.

Tips & Warnings
  • Once your pimple comes to a head, "lance" the whitehead instead of squeezing it to avoid scarring.
  • Be sure that your hands and anything that touches your face is clean, you don't want to add an infection to your already uncomfortable situation.

on 11/6/2008 I'll tell my son about it also. I still have a few pimples myself and I'm 35! You'd think they'd be all gone by now.
