There are a few tricks to making the perfect chocolate chip cookie. Follow these tips with any chocolate chip cookie recipe.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use quality ingredients. Better ingredients make better cookies.

  2. Step 2

Don't beat the chocolate chips into the dough. Use a spoon to fold them in instead. This will keep the chips from breaking into pieces.

  3. Step 3

Let the dough rest for 36 hours. Cover the dough after mixing and put it in the fridge for a couple of days.

  4. Step 4

Bake a test cookie. Put one cookie on the baking sheet and bake it for the recommended time. if the cookie is under-cooked or over-cooked, adjust the baking time and try again. If the cookie is too runny, add 1/4 cup of flour to the mix before trying a new cookie. Once you have the correct baking time and flour amount write it down on your recipe for next time.

Tips & Warnings
  • Oven temperatures vary. Use an oven thermometer to check the temperature before baking.
  • Altitude can affect the cookie in the baking process. Changes to baking times and the amount of flour will fix this.
