It is a good idea to drink tea for health. Tea contains more than 4,000 chemical compounds. The ones that have gotten the most press are phytonutrient polyphenols, such as flavonoids and epigallocatechin gallate (EGCG). These phytonutrient polyphenols are found in both green tea and black tea, and they provide a multitude of health benefits. Research has shown that drinking tea for health helps lower your risk of heart disease, stroke, and several cancers. There is even evidence that weight loss is stimulated when you drink tea for health.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • black or green tea (caffeinated is preferable)
  • hot water
  • tea cup
  1. Step 1

Choose either green tea or black tea. Both green tea and black tea are good for health. It was once thought that green tea was better for health, but black tea also has many of the same health benefits. Both types of tea contain phytonutrient polyphenols, though green tea contains a slightly higher level of these nutrients.

  2. Step 2

Drink tea with caffeine for added health benefits, as long as caffeine isn't a problem for you. Researchers have found evidence that the antimutagenic properties in caffeine protect against cancer. So drinking caffeinated tea may further increase your body's resistance to cancer. Some studies have even found a correlation between drinking tea for health and a lowered risk of Parkinson's disease. Black tea usually contains more caffeine than green tea.

  3. Step 3

Drink tea for health in the morning before school, work, or exercise. The antioxidants in the tea will energize your body and prepare you for a busy day.

  4. Step 4

Drink tea for health regularly to improve the overall quality of your life. Make it a habit for life!
