Ordering Beer Online

Being a beer or wine connoisseur means finding the best beverages the market has to offer. Sometimes this can mean ordering in a more unconventional way, such as online. Ordering beer online is not difficult. All the purchaser needs to know are the local and state laws regarding the online purchase of alcoholic beverages. Picking out and enjoying the perfect brew is easy when you know where to look. Does this Spark an idea?

Instructions

    • 1

Determine what brew you want. Consult online sources and print publication to find specialty beers and unique brews (see Resources below).

    • 2

Check out online shops. Beer Geek is an excellent source for many import and specialty brews. They are one of the only shops online that offer Italian beers for delivery. If you'd like your beer delivery to be a regular event, consider a Beer of the Month Club. For a monthly, quarterly or bi-annual fee, you can have specially selected, handcrafted beers delivered to you each month. This option will also save you a few dollars in shipping costs (see Resources below).

    • 3

Be aware online alcohol ordering limitations. You must be at least 21 years old and be available to sign for the delivery when it comes, as well as show a photo ID. Some states do not allow ordering alcohol online (see Resources below).

    • 4

Pick at least 6 beers to order, as most online sellers will not ship less than 6 bottles at a time. Read the company's policies on how many you are allowed to order and in what increments.

    • 5

Choose your preferred shipping method and give a shipping address. The cost of shipping will depend on the weight of the product as well as which shipping method you choose. The address you would like your beer delivered to should be either your place of business or wherever you spend the majority of your day. This is to ensure proper delivery. The shipping company must have a valid signature from the purchaser who is over 21 years old. The signer will be required to show photo identification to prove age.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can send beer as a gift to anyone over the age of 21. Follow the steps above and use the recipient's address instead of your own. They will still need to be present and show identification when the delivery is made.

  • The states that do not allow delivery are Georgia, Indiana, Maryland, Massachusetts, Kentucky, Kansas, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Utah and Virginia.
