5. Ask prospective oral surgeons about pre- and post-operative care. The dentist you ultimately choose should be receptive to your questions, answering each one fully.

6. Be aware that the process of replacing all your teeth with implants will take several months. The doctor will drill small holes in your jaw where titanium screws will be placed. You'll then need to wait a few months while your jaw grows around the screws. Once it has, the implanted teeth will be placed over the screws.

7. Quit smoking before you begin the process of getting implants. Dental implants are less likely to be successful in those who smoke.

8. Care for your teeth and gums properly. Proper dental hygiene is imperative to successful implants.
