How to Create Memorial Cards
Memorial cards are small cards that family and friends receive at a funeral. The family also sends memorial cards out to those who couldn't make it to the funeral. The cards are a keepsake that many people cherish long after the funeral is over. Usually, the funeral home provides these memorial cards, but as this can get expensive, some people choose to make the cards themselves. Making a memorial card for a loved one can also help with the grieving process.

1
Decide on the size. Memorial cards are usually the size of a business card, but in recent years, larger sizes have become popular. Some are cards that fold in half to business-card size, and others are about the size of a postcard. While smaller cards are easier to carry around, you can't fit as much information on them.

2
Choose a picture. Make sure it's a flattering picture of the deceased. Since the photo is a reminder of the deceased's life, use a picture from when he was healthy and happy.

3
Find the right words. The memorial card usually features a bible verse or poem that was a favorite of the deceased. Next to the picture, the phrase "In Loving Memory of" precedes the full name of the deceased, along with her birthdate and date of death.

Make sure everything fits. Arrange the photo and the poem or scripture and make sure they all fit within the card size you have chosen. If they don't, try using a smaller font or reducing the size of the picture. Don't go too small on the font, though, since the words mean nothing if nobody can read them. In a case where less than a 10pt font is the only way to fit everything in, a bigger card or less writing are the only solutions.

5
Print the cards. Since memorial cards are keepsakes, don't use regular printer paper. Instead, opt for paper that's a little thicker. An off-white or cream-colored paper also makes the memorial more beautiful.

6
Laminate the cards. Laminating is not mandatory when creating a memorial, but it is a good idea. Laminating keeps the card from being ruined by water or other spilled liquid, and prevents tearing and ripping of the card.
