The back tap combination is a six-tap step that incorporates a scuff (heel scuffed against the floor) with a hop and a toe jab. When you toe jab, you jab the toe of your shoe to the back. Remember that when you hop, you hop in place. A hop is different from a leap, which requires the dancer to leap from one foot to the other.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Begin the back tap combination by stepping down on your left and scuffing your right heel to the front. Your right foot is still raised. The count so far is "one two."

Hop in place on your left foot and then drop your left heel. This is done to the count of three.

  3. Step 3

Step down on your right and jab your left toe to the back. The count is "four five."

  4. Step 4

  5. Step 5

Put it all together: Step, scuff, hop/heel drop, step, toe jab, step.

Tips & Warnings
  • When you jab your left toe to the back, your weight will still be on your right foot. After executing the toe jab, quickly step down on your left foot.
