Sikhs and Jains form two minority religions in India (Hindus are the majority). Formed in 1469, Sikhism arose due to an opposition to ancient Indian traditions of widow burning and the caste system. Most Sikh temples are located in its birthplace, North India. Jainism is an ancient religious tradition that formed in opposition to Hinduism. The Buddha lived as a Jain before his enlightenment. Jain temples can be found in South and North India.
